The Sheriff’s Office provides around-the-clock law enforcement service to every region of the county. In addition to 24 hour policing, we offer Butte County citizens a full range of services including, coroner services, civil services, court security and corrections.





Special Victims Unit


The Butte County Sheriff’s Office “Special Victims Unit” (SVU) is a specialized unit located within the Sheriff’s Felony Investigations Unit.  The primary focus of the Sheriff’s SVU is the investigation of; child abuse, both physical and sexual, adult sexual assault and child homicide.  The unit is comprised of two full time detectives.  In addition to the above investigations, the Sheriff’s SVU detectives monitor and supervise Butte County’s sexual registrant population.  The Sheriff’s SVU is also responsible for the majority of the County’s computer related forensic searches.
