Sheriff Kory L. HoneaThe Sheriff’s Office serves all the citizens of Butte County by providing a mix of public safety and public service functions. The Sheriff’s Office provides around-the-clock law enforcement service to every region of the county. In addition to 24 hour policing, we offer Butte County citizens a full range of services including, coroner services, civil services, court security and corrections.







The Investigations Unit is comprised of detectives that specialize in the investigation of serious crimes including, but not limited to, Homicide, Robbery, Burglary, Sexual Assault, Child Abuse, and Domestic Violence, and we supervise and monitor the registered sex offenders within Butte County. The unit is divided into a General Felony Crimes unit, a Special Victims Unit, and a Gang Crimes unit. The mission of the unit is to vigorously, thoroughly, and competently conduct criminal investigations with the goal of determining the facts of the case and, when appropriate, arresting offenders and achieving successful prosecutions and convictions. Our philosophy includes; we will “leave no stone unturned”, and “travel to ends of the earth”, in our quest to solve murders and bring perpetrators to justice.
