BCSO deputy assaulted while making arrest

Oroville-(10/31/16)

On Saturday, 10/29/16, at approximately 10pm, Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies were dispatched to Gold Country Casino in Oroville for an intoxicated male who had assaulted staff at the casino. When deputies arrived, they found the suspect, Dallas Keith Iverson, 23, of Oroville, being detained by staff outside the casino. When deputies made contact with Iverson, he began yelling racial slurs and acting combative. Once deputies placed Iverson in a patrol car, he began violently kicking the right rear passenger door. As a deputy opened the door, he was kicked in the chest and knocked to the ground by Iverson. Iverson was removed from the patrol car and placed in a safety restraint to prevent any more damage to the patrol car or injuries to deputies. The deputy who was kicked was taken to Oroville Medical Center with injuries to his rib cage and knee. Iverson received minor injuries while acting combative to both casino staff and deputies and was evaluated at Oroville Medical Center before being released to be booked into the Butte County Jail.

Iverson was arrested on charges of PC 69-resisting an executive officer with force or violence, PC 243(b)-battery on a peace officer, and PC 242-battery. The deputy who was injured was treated and released from Oroville Medical Center and is recovering.
