BUTTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE DETECTIVES ARREST JUVENILE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING CRIMINAL THREATS AT LAS PLUMAS HIGH SCHOOL

Oroville, Ca—On January 17, 2018, staff at Las Plumas High School in Oroville found a note indicating a possible school shooting. School staff immediately contacted Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), and an investigation into the threat was initiated.

Through assistance with school staff, BCSO detectives were able to identify a 16 year old male who was possibly responsible. Detectives interviewed the juvenile, who admitted to making the threat. The juvenile was arrested for making criminal threats, and was booked into Juvenile Hall.

Butte County Sheriff’s Office takes school threats seriously and detectives investigate school threats immediately. Schools should be a safe place for students, and the safety of students is a priority. There is currently no threat to schools in our area, and students can feel safe attending school tomorrow.
