Stolen Property

On Wednesday, April 19, 2017, Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies
served a search warrant at a home on Gaia Way, off Highway 99, just south of
the Tehama County line. The resident of the home, Jason Coy, age 41, was
arrested in Chico April 16, 2017, on charges of petty theft and possession of
stolen property after being found with items stolen from a home in North Chico.
During the
search of the home, deputies located numerous items of stolen property, including
firearms, ammunition, chainsaws, power tool equipment, bicycles and generators.
A butane honey oil lab was also discovered, along with a significant amount of
methamphetamine. Deputies believe the stolen items are related to unsolved
burglaries from North Chico and southern Tehama County.
Jason Coy
was arrested on several charges, including the manufacturing of a controlled
substance, possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of stolen
property, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and being a felon in possession
of ammunition. Coy’s girlfriend, Deven Smith, age 26, was arrested on charges
of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of stolen property. A
third person at the home, Jose Ortiz Hernandez, age 24, was also arrested on a
charge of possession of a stolen firearm.

in North Chico or southern Tehama County who was the victim of a burglary and had
construction equipment stolen is urged to contact Sgt. Brazzi at 538-7321.
