Deputies respond to shooting in Oroville

Oroville, Ca— At approximately 12:45 a.m., on September 23, 2016, Butte County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call reporting a home invasion in progress in the 7400 block of Gene Lane in Palermo. Deputies arrived on scene and located the suspect, unresponsive, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The suspect was taken by helicopter to a local hospital for treatment, his condition is unknown at this time.
BCSO Investigations Unit responded to the scene and, through a preliminary investigation, detectives learned that the male suspect approached the residence and began shooting at the occupants. One of the occupants returned gunshots, striking the suspect at least one time. Due to the fact that the suspect was unresponsive when deputies arrived, his identification is unknown at this time. The identification of the victims will not be released for their safety.
