On Saturday, September 17, 2016, inmates participating in the Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Alternative Custody Program (ACS) will be cleaning up several areas of Butte County as part of the Great Sierra River Cleanup Day. The event is in conjunction with California Coastal Cleanup Day.  The inmate work crews, along with BCSO staff, will be at three locations beginning at 8:00am.

Locations:

-Oroville, Riverbend Park- Inmate crews will be cleaning up trash and debris from the banks of the Feather River.

-Chico, Rose Ave at Bidwell Avenue- Inmate work crews, with the help of the CSUC Rugby Team, will be clearing trash and debris from in and around Big Chico Creek.

-Chico, Teichert Ponds behind Kohl’s- Inmate work crews will be working with the Butte Environmental Council to clean up trash and debris associated with transient camps in the area.

To show our appreciation for the good work they are doing, BCSO staff will be treating the members of the inmate work crews to a BBQ after the cleanup at noon at Cedar Grove in Bidwell Park.
