Oroville, Ca—On Monday July 18th at approximately 8:30pm, Butte County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting shots fired in the area of Cynthiann Lane in Oroville. BCSO Deputies responded and located 2 Black male adults suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies performed life saving measures on the victims until medics arrived; however, both victims were declared deceased on scene.

BCSO investigations unit responded to the scene, and an investigation is ongoing. At this time, a suspect or a motive to the shooting has not been identified. BCSO Detectives are investigating the possibility of the incident being drug related. Detectives are currently following up on multiple leads.

Witnesses have reported a white sedan, possibly with a spoiler, leaving the area at a high rate of speed soon after the gun shots were heard. Detectives have investigated reports of similar looking vehicles, but have not located the vehicle involved in the shooting.

The victims, both from Oroville, have been identified as Mark Cummings, age 34, and Mark Fletcher age 53. Autopsies have been scheduled for later this week.
