Oroville, CA – On July 3, 2021, around 5:00 a.m., the Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) received a 9-1-1 call from an individual who was camping at the Bidwell Marina Campground, Oroville. The individual reported a male at the campground was injured. BCSO deputies and California State Parks law enforcement arrived in the area and located Tyler Dickson, age 20, of San Pablo, inside a tent. Medical personnel arrived and determined Dickson was deceased.
California State Parks law enforcement requested BCSO assume jurisdiction of the investigation regarding Dickson’s death. BCSO detectives responded to the Bidwell Marina Campground and gathered evidence and information which indicated Dickson was murdered. This investigation is ongoing.
