JOINT INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN MURDER ARREST

Oroville, CA – On May 25, 2021, around 3:30 a.m., the Oroville Police Department (OPD) received a 9-1-1 call from a resident who advised they heard a gunshot near the 3000 block of Burlington Avenue, Oroville. OPD officers arrived in the area and located a male inside a residence who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel arrived and determined the male was deceased. The name of the male is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
The Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) immediately began assisting OPD with the investigation. During the subsequent investigation, detectives gathered evidence and information showing Isom Brown, age 27, of Oroville was responsible for the male’s death. Deputies located Brown during a traffic enforcement stop in Oroville. Brown was booked into the Butte County Jail on an open count of murder. This investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information about this case, they are encouraged to call BCSO detectives at 530-538-7671 or OPD detectives 530-538-2448.
