Human Remains Found in Bangor

Bangor, CA- On Friday, November 10, 2017, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a Bangor resident discovered human remains on a property near Upham Road in Bangor. Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) detectives responded to the area, and with assistance from Butte County Sheriff Search and Rescue volunteers, were able to recover all the remains. It appears the body had been there for several months. The remains are being sent to the Department of Justice, as well as the Chico State Department of Anthropology for further identification. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the cause of death is undetermined at this time.
Due to the condition and location of the remains, the circumstances around this death are being considered suspicious. Anyone with information is asked to contact BCSO Detective Will Brewton at 538-7671
