Oroville, CA- The Butte County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died on Sunday, July 23, 2017, during a violent encounter with a private security guard and responding law enforcement officers. The subject has been identified as Tyler Scott Rushing, age 34, of Ventura, CA. Rushing was identified through fingerprint analysis conducted by the California Department of Justice. Rushing’s next of kin has been notified.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and is being conducted by the Butte County Officer Involved Shooting Protocol Team.
