Stolen Property Arrest

Chico, CA- On Sunday, April 16, 2017, at about 2:30 PM, a resident in the area of Donald Dr. and Keefer Rd. in the Chico area observed a subject stealing a package that had just been delivered to his home. The victim called the Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and provided an excellent description of the vehicle and its direction of travel. Deputies responded to the area and located the vehicle driving southbound on Cohasset Rd. Deputies initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted its occupants, 41 year old Jason Patrick Coy of Chico, and 40 year old Thomas Eli Devlin of Chico. Devlin was determined to be on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for prior convictions. A search was conducted of the vehicle and the contents of the stolen packages were located. Jason Coy was arrested for misdemeanor counts of petty theft and possession of stolen property and was booked at the Butte County Jail with a bail of $6,000. Thomas Devlin was also charged with petty theft and possession of stolen property, as well as a probation violation. Devlin is being held without bail.

The stolen property was recovered and returned to the victim.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the packaging for the stolen packages was dumped on the property of another residence on Keefer Rd.
