Public Health offers over 50 programs covering a vast array of topics and services. Our programs provide service to the unborn, children, teens, mothers, families and communities. Each program is dedicated to a healthier Butte County.

Are you ready if a natural or man-made disaster strikes? Personal, family and animal preparedness can save your life and reduce confusion during an unexpected emergency. The Emergency Preparedness office collaborates with local hospitals, health care providers, fire departments, law enforcement and other county departments to protect the public's health during times of emergency or disaster.
Community Health Program works to continuously create and improve our communities physical and social environments by advocating for healthy places that are designed and built to improve the quality of life for all people who live, work, worship, learn, and play here -- where every person is free to make choices amid a variety of healthy, available, accessible, and affordable options.
The health department works strategically to prevent and respond to disease outbreaks. We provide educational information to the community to promote health and prevent illness. Disease statistics and reports help to monitor re-occurring or new diseases in the county.
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a federally-funded program which provides supplemental food vouchers and nutrition education to 6,580 pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants and children up through age five who qualify in Butte County. Services are available to clients who are at risk for nutritional deficiencies and who meet financial guidelines.
The health department offers tobacco education and cessation resources. The program participates in a county coalition consisting of community members and organizations, working to protect and preserve the health of people in Butte County from the harmful effects of tobacco and tobacco smoke, including e-cigarettes.
The Butte County Public Health Department is committed to providing you with the facts you need to make safe and informed choices. By sharing science-based information, BCPHD is working to increase awareness about cannabis and how it affects our bodies, minds and health.
