Butte County Fire Department is the largest fire department north of Sacramento, California to Eugene, Oregon. We are a combination of career and citizen volunteer firefighters.

Our Mission: "To provide professional services to protect lives, property, and environment to those residing, working or traveling with in the unincorporated areas of Butte County, the cities of Biggs and Gridley and the Town of Paradise."

Station 71 is located in the Richvale area, a small community accessed by Highway 162. The station is staffed twenty-four hours a day by two firefighters. The community is also supports a volunteer company of firefighters who work with the paid firefighters to serve the community.

Station 73 is located in the City of Biggs, west of Highway 99. It is a small community of approximately 1900 people.  The station is staffed by two firefighters twenty -four hours a day and supported by a volunteer company that supports both Biggs and Gridley. Fire Station 73 is the headquarters for all the personnel protective equipment that is worn by all the firefighters within the county fire department.

Station 74 is located in the City of Gridley in south Butte County. The station is staffed by four full time firefighters twenty -four hours per day. The fire station staffs a fire engine and ladder truck. The community is also supported by a volunteer company that serves both Biggs and Gridley. Fire Station 74 is also the home to the Butte County Water Rescue Team. The team is a CAL OES Type II water rescue team and they operate several boats and equipment to complete water rescues in all the area waterways. On an average year the team responds to 25 water rescues throughout Butte County and neighboring counties.
