Butte County Fire Department is the largest fire department north of Sacramento, California to Eugene, Oregon. We are a combination of career and citizen volunteer firefighters.

Our Mission: "To provide professional services to protect lives, property, and environment to those residing, working or traveling with in the unincorporated areas of Butte County, the cities of Biggs and Gridley and the Town of Paradise."

Battalion Chief Garrett Sjolund

I began my career in 1992 as an auxiliary and volunteer firefighter. I joined CAL Fire in 1996 and have remained there ever since. I have worked my way up as a Firefighter 1, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Fire Captain and now Battalion Chief. My assignments and experience include Schedule A, Schedule B, Helitack, Air Attack and Program Administration, in the Butte, Mendocino, Tehama-Glenn and Sacramento Headquarters Units.

As the Air Attack Battalion Chief, I manage all the daily operations at the Chico Air Attack Base, and air traffic as an Air Tactical Group Supervisor in Air Attack 210.
