I began my fire service career as a volunteer firefighter in 1998 with Company 33 in Magalia. At the same time, I worked full time as a Paramedic Supervisor for a local ambulance company. In 2003, as part of my military service as a Flight Medic with the United States Army, I deployed overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

I was hired by CAL FIRE in December, 2004 as a Fire Apparatus Engineer/Paramedic in the Santa Clara Unit (SCU). In 2008 I transferred to the Butte Unit (BTU) as a Fire Apparatus Engineer at Jarbo Gap (Station 36). In 2010 I promoted to Fire Captain at Feather Falls (Station 51). In 2012 I transferred to the BTU Safety Officer position in the Training and Safety Bureau. In addition to providing Unit Safety Officer coverage, I oversaw the Unit’s Health and Safety programs, including annual respiratory fit testing, ladder testing, and illness and injury prevention, as well as the health and safety committee. In 2015 I attended the CAL FIRE Peace Officers Academy (POST) and upon completion of my field training was assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau as a Fire Investigator. In 2018 I promoted to Battalion Chief back in SCU as a relief BC and Unit Safety Officer. In 2019 I transferred back to BTU as the Emergency Command Center (ECC) Battalion Chief, and in 2020 was assigned Battalion Chief of the Fire Prevention and Law Enforcement Bureau, where I oversee the Butte Unit's Fire Marshal Bureau, Public Information Office, Pre-Fire Planning, and Defensible Space Inspections.

I am a State Certified Fire Officer and Fire Investigator II and hold several ICS qualifications for field operations. I am a member of the Butte County Fire Investigation Team. I have previously participated on the Butte Interagency Rescue Group as a Rescue Technician and as a Drowning and Accident Recovery Team (DART) Diver.
