I began my career in the fire service serving over 7 years as a volunteer firefighter. I spent 3 and a half years in Palermo with Company 72 and 4 years in Thermalito with Company 63. In 1994, I was hired as a seasonal firefighter at the Harts Mill Fire Station near Berry Creek. I was also assigned to the Bangor and South Chico Fire Stations. In 1996, I was promoted to Limited Term Fire Apparatus Engineer at Jarbo Gap before promoting to Permanent Fire Apparatus Engineer in 1998, assigned to relief and then the Palermo Fire Station.

In 2002, I promoted to Fire Captain in the Lassen Modoc CAL FIRE Unit at Antelope Camp supervising an inmate firefighting hand crew. I transferred back to the Butte Unit in 2004 as a Fire Captain. During my time as a Fire Captain in the Butte Unit, I worked in the Emergency Command Center, Jarbo Gap Fire Station, Kelly Ridge Fire Station and Pre-Fire Engineering.

In 2019, I promoted to Battalion Chief at our Region Office in Redding overseeing the Intelligence Office for the Northern Region of CAL FIRE.

In July, 2021, I returned to the Butte Unit as Chief of Battalion 7. In 2023 I moved to Battalion 9A, overseeing the Butte Unit's newest contract department, the city of Oroville Fire Department.
