Patients' Rights

What Are Patients' Rights Advocates?

Patients' Rights Advocates are trained in the practice of patients' rights advocacy by the State Office of Patients' Rights. Our staff is made up of a variety of professionals and mental health consumers who have experience in law and mental health.

What Rights Do Mental Health Clients Have?

Mental Health clients have the same legal rights guaranteed to everyone by the Constitution and other laws. As citizens clients do not lose their rights by being hospitalized. Patients Rights can help with a variety of issues, including complaints about treatment, financial assistance, community awareness and more. Please contact us for any reason, even if you concern is not regarding a legal issue. What Interests

Do Advocates Represent?

Advocates represent clients' interests as defined by the client, as long as those interests are within the bounds of the law and achievable within the advocates' resources. Advocates assist adults and minors who are voluntary or involuntary mental health clients. We counsel clients in all types of mental health facilities.
