Library
The mission of the Butte County Library is to provide all individuals, regardless of age, ethnic background, educational or economic level, with free access to ideas, information, and technology.
Microfilm & Local Newspapers
  • The Library subscribes to the Chico Enterprise‐Record, Oroville Mercury‐Register,  Paradise Post,  Gridley Herald, and  Chico News & Review. Print copies of newspapers are kept for 6 months, after which they can be viewed on microfilm.
  • Microfilm reader-printers are available in the Chico, Oroville and Paradise branches. The Gridley branch has a microfilm reader but no print capability.
  • The Library also maintains microfilm collections of historic Butte County Newspapers back to 1854.
  • Unable to come into a branch? Fill out our Obituary/Newspaper Article Request form.
  • If you have your own microfiche or microfilm to view, you may bring it in to view on a library reader.
