BUTTE COUNTY ASSESSOR RESPONDS TO POSSIBLE SCAM

Oroville, Calif.—Butte County Assessor’s Office was recently notified of a possible scam involving individuals knocking on doors in the Magalia area, identifying themselves as representatives of the Assessor’s Office, and demanding money. 

The Assessor’s Office is responsible for locating and identifying all taxable property in the County as well as establishing taxable value for all property subject to property taxation; however, the Assessor’s Office does not collect taxes. Representatives of the Assessor’s Office will not visit your home and ask for money.
