Rural Community and Business Leaders Raise $68,900 for Butte County Nonprofits

BUTTE COUNTY, CA – On Tuesday, December 12, the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) presented $68,900 to six Butte County nonprofits at the Butte County Board of Supervisors meeting. Rural community and business leaders from across the state raised the funds during the Basket Drawing and Auction at RCRC's 2023 Annual Meeting in late September for the benefit of nonprofits serving the Butte County community.

"These contributions will assistance in bolstering the ongoing efforts of six incredible Butte County nonprofits, whose work has had an outsized impact in enhancing native wildlife rehabilitation, fostering recreational opportunities, facilitating wildfire rebuilding efforts, strengthening emergency response capabilities, and advancing education programs," said RCRC Board Chair and Butte County Supervisor Doug Teeter. "I am sincerely grateful for the generosity displayed by our RCRC supervisors, county staff, and esteemed corporate partners and for their unwavering commitment to supporting California's rural communities."

Each year, RCRC's Annual Meeting concludes with a Basket Drawing and Auction in which a county-themed basket is auctioned off from each of RCRC's 40 member counties. This year, $68,900 was raised, which included a $5,000 contribution from the California Water Service. The proceeds from auction are then donated to select nonprofits in the county of the RCRC Board Chair. This year's selected nonprofits include the Barry R. Kirshner Wildlife Foundation, Chico Velo Trailworks, Honey Run Covered Bridge Association, Magalia Community Park, Butte County Sheriff's Search & Rescue, and Four Winds of Indian Education, Inc.
