DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL SERVICES LAUNCHES OROVILLE OFFICE LOBBY AND RECEPTION AREA RENOVATION
Butte County, Calif.—The Butte County Department of Employment and Social Services will begin an extensive remodeling process to the main lobby and reception area at 78 Table Mountain Boulevard in Oroville beginning next week.
The project includes the installation of a new, ADA-accessible reception area to provide information and direction to the public as they first enter the building. Additionally, a new waiting room will be built at the front of the building, providing a more comfortable waiting experience for customers. ADA-accessible service windows will also be installed, increasing confidentiality of customer information and providing a better traffic flow for those accessing services.
“We are looking forward to offering a renovated facility for the public to access crucial services in a more welcoming space for customers and employees,” said Shelby Boston, Department of Employment and Social Services Director.
The renovated reception area will include an upgraded Life Lab with new computer stations, where the public may search for employment, educational opportunities, and more. The Security Office will be relocated behind the reception area and will offer a full 180-degree view of all service areas. This will provide a safer experience for customers as well as DESS staff.
While the facility will remain open throughout the renovation, customers are encouraged to utilize both the BenefitsCal website at https://benefitscal.com and the CalFresh website at https://www.getcalfresh.org to apply for benefits and upload documents. Additional information may be found through the department’s website at https://www.buttecounty.net/DESS. To receive general benefit information, ask case questions, or speak to an Eligibility Specialist, customers may also call the Customer Service Center at (877) 410-8803.
