BUTTE COUNTY ADVISES RESIDENTS TO PREPARE FOR INCOMING STORM

Oroville, Ca—The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch impacting Butte County beginning

tomorrow afternoon and continuing through Sunday March 12. A Wind Advisory has also been issued

beginning at 4pm tomorrow and continuing through 4pm on Friday March 10.

The National Weather Service anticipates the incoming storm to bring moderate to heavy rain with high snow

levels of 6000-8000 feet. Increased runoff from rain and snowmelt will lead to rises on area waterways in the

foothills and valley.

Butte County residents are encouraged to prepare for possible flooding and road closures. Butte County Public

Works crews are in the process of arranging sand and sand bags to be delivered to 4 locations in Butte

County: Kelly Ridge Fire Station 64 in Oroville, Station 41 North of Chico, Station 72 in Palermo, and the

Durham Community Park by the Horse Arena.

Please check the Butte County Public Works road conditions map for updated information regarding road

closures. Information is also posted on Butte County’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Follow the National

Weather Service for updated weather information.
