The Butte County Public Health Department serves individuals with HIV/AIDS who are residing in Butte and Glenn counties. Case management services assist clients in accessing healthcare and treatment services, as well as access to life-saving medications.
HIV Care Program
HIV Care Program services are available to individuals residing in Butte and Glenn counties. The HIV Care Program is designed to assist clients in accessing healthcare and treatment services, as well as access to life-saving medications. Case managers provide non-medical case management, healthcare coverage counseling and advocacy, health education, HIV 101 basics and treatment guidelines, referrals to HIV specialty medical care and supportive services. In addition, the HIV Care Program provides partner notification, medical transportation assistance, and access to the Office of AIDS- Health Insurance Premium Payment (OA-HIPP) program and AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP). Case managers maintain a collaborative relationship with Ampla Health Clinics and Home Health Care Management/Caring Choices to offer optimum service delivery to clients.
AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP)
The AIDS Drug Assistance Program, or ADAP, was established in 1987 to help ensure HIV-positive uninsured and under-insured individuals could have access to pharmaceutical (drug) therapies. The goal of ADAP is to make drug treatments available in a timely and reliable manner, in order to increase the duration and quality of life for those with HIV. The California ADAP program is funded by Ryan White Care dollars and funds from the State of California. ADAP is a program that is available in other states throughout the United States. You are eligible for ADAP services if:
- You are a California resident; you are at least 18 years old
- You have an HIV / AIDS diagnosis
- You have a Modified Adjusted Gross Income that does not exceed 500% of the Federal Poverty Level per year based on family size and household income
- You have a prescription written by a licensed California physician
- You have limited or no prescription benefits from another program or insurance plan
