Provider Resources

The Butte County Public Health Department acts as a resource to local physicians, nurses, and medical personnel. Providers are notified of current outbreaks, updated immunization guidelines, and provided guidance for communicable disease reporting.

Reporting

Mandated influenza reporting to Public Health (per Title 17, California Code of Regulations (CCR) 2500) includes:

  • Laboratory-confirmed influenza-associated deaths in children ages 0 to 17 years
  • Infections with novel influenza viruses
  • Laboratory-confirmed respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)-associated deaths in children 0 to 4 years
  • Acute Respiratory outbreaks in both healthcare and congregate living settings, such as residential living facilities (retirement communities, assisted living, board and care, skilled nursing facilities, rehab centers, homeless and evacuation shelters, camps, jails, etc.).
  • An outbreak is defined as One lab-confirmed influenza case in the setting of a cluster (greater than or equal to 2 cases) of ILI within a 72-hour period

Voluntary influenza reporting by request of the Butte County Health Officer includes:

  • Laboratory-confirmed intensive care unit (ICU) cases 0 to 64 years
  • Laboratory-confirmed influenza-associated deaths in persons 0 to 64 years
