Treasurer - Tax Collector
The Treasurer-Tax Collector's Department operates three divisions - Treasury, Property Tax, and Central Collections. While the activities of each division are unique, the primary purpose of the department as a whole is the collection and cash management of revenue owed to the County, cities, special districts, school districts, and the court system. The department is committed to providing excellent customer service and assuring effective utilization of the public's tax dollars through a program of performance measurement and management.
I am honored to be entrusted with the duties of Treasurer-Tax Collector, and committed to preserving the tradition of fiscal conservatism and prudent management of public funds for the benefit of the citizens of Butte County, county departments, schools and special districts. I am personally dedicated to excellence in the performance of all duties and am proud to say that the Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office is well known for its culture of professionalism, teamwork and superior customer service.

Website and phone access for online payments will be turned off at 5:00 pm. The following payment options are available:
- Pay online by credit card or e-check. Outstanding 2022/23 tax bills must be paid on or before June 30, 2023 by 5:00pm to avoid a default status and additional penalties.
- Pay by check or cash in our Oroville office until 5:00 pm on June 30, 2023.
- Mail your payment to our office. Unlike other installment deadlines, payments must be received by June 30, 2023. We cannot accept June 30th postmarks.
Taxes not paid by the fiscal year-end deadline will convert to "defaulted" status on July 1, 2023, and will incur additional penalties and interest. Recent Updates to Property Status
The Assessor's Office is continuing to update property tax records to reflect title transfers that occurred. A duplicate billing may be generated once the records are updated.
If you sold, bought, or transferred property recently, you may print a copy of the tax bill online. You may contact the Assessor's Office to validate the time it is taking to change file information. If you received the original tax bill, please forward to the new owner or reach out to the title company.
To update your address, please send an email to the Assessor's Office.
