Kennel Permits

Every person who owns or controls a kennel or other place in the unincorporated areas of the county where more than five dogs over the age of four months are kept, for any purpose whatsoever, shall obtain a kennel license within thirty days after the kennel is established and annually thereafter (Ord. Number 3992, § 2 (part), 11-4-08).

To learn more, view the Butte County Code, Chapter 4.

Prior to applying for a kennel permit, you must first determine if your property is zoned for a kennel. You must have a minimum of 2 acres of property and your kennels must have a setback of at least 150 feet from any structure. Prior to putting in a kennel, contact the Butte County Development Services to determine if you qualify for a kennel use permit.
