The Butte County Fire Rescue's Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team was formed and began in 1987, making it one of the very first CISD teams in California.
In 1995 the Butte County Fire Department Vehicle Extrication Group was formed. Its main objective was to increase a crash victim's chance of survival by decreasing the amount of time in extricating the patient from the vehicle.
The team is composed of 30 to 40 Hazmat Specialists. The team trains together monthly. Training includes a variety of hands-on skills, as well as technical skills, including sophisticated detection equipment.
The forty person Technical Rescue Team (TRT) is trained and ready to respond to most types of rescues including over the edge rope rescues, urban searches and rescues, building collapses, confined space rescues and water rescues.
