The Office of the Fire Marshal is committed to providing professional fire and life safety engineering, permitting, and inspection services for our citizens through exemplary customer service, leadership, education, analysis, innovation, and partnership with the development and business community
CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire Department maintains a progressive Fire Marshall Bureau staffed by two Fire Captains. All CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire Department Stations are involved in a fire inspection program and work closely with Fire Inspectors in the Fire Prevention Bureau to reduce our community's fire risk.
This department is responsible for enforcing Butte County Improvement Standards and California Fire Code on all use permits, minor use permits and commercial building permits countywide. The Fire Marshal also enforces and inspects all California Code of Regulations Title 19 regulated occupancies in unincorporated Butte County.
The Fire Protection Planning Officer is responsible for enforcing Public Resources Code 4290, 4291 (SRA only), Butte County Improvement Standards, and the California Fire Code on all new building construction (commercial and residential) within Butte County. The Fire Marshal also enforces Public Resources Code 4290 (SRA only), Butte County Improvement Standards, and when applicable the California Fire Code on all lot line adjustments, grading permits, parcel splits, subdivisions, general plan amendments, administrative permits, and rezones within Butte County.
