County Code 34C

Chapter 34 C Non-Medical Marijuana Ordinance Butte County will begin enforcement of Chapter 34c on April 14th, 2017 (View the complete text of the "Chapter 34C of the Butte County Code - Butte County Nonmedical Marijuana Cultivation Ordinance" (PDF) with these incorporated changes). This Code can also be viewed online with ALL of Butte County's Codes in Chapter 34C- Non-Medical Marijuana Cultivation Regulation. The oversight of this Ordinance/Regulation is the responsibility of the Butte County Department of Development Services, Code Enforcement Division. Please view the links below, for more information.

Stay Informed

  • A parcel that is less than 5 acres, and a cultivation area of up to 6 plants must be indoors
  • A parcel greater than 5 acres, a cultivation area of up to 6 plants indoors or outdoors, but not both
  • Butte County Chapter 34C allows a person 21 years of age or older to cultivate up to six cannabis plants
  • Not more than six plants may be planted, cultivated, harvested, dried, or processed within a single private residence, or upon the grounds of a private residence, at any one time
