We process Building Permits including Plan Review, Inspections and coordination with other agencies to issue Permits. We process Development Applications including environmental review, provide zoning information and support long-range planning through the County's General Plan. Code Enforcement responds to Building, Land Use, Abandoned Vehicles, Noise, Nuisance Abatement and the County's Restrictions on Cultivation of Medical Marijuana Ordinance complaints.

March 7, 2022

The allowance for transitory or dry camping under the Chapter 53 Camp Fire Recovery Urgency Ordinance will be discontinued on March 31, 2022. All Temporary housing options allowed under the Camp Fire must be furnished with full utility hook-ups after this date. Transitory camping under the Chapter 54 North Complex Fire Urgency Ordinance will continue to be allowed until December 31, 2023.

February 11, 2022

The Upper Ridge Community Plan was reviewed at a public hearing by the Planning Commission on January 27, 2022. At that hearing, the Planning Commission adopted a Resolution recommending that the Board of Supervisors accept the Upper Ridge Community Plan and that plan adoption take place upon completion of environmental review pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Planning

The Planning Division coordinates the review of development projects; develops and implements the Butte County General Plan and other advance planning programs; and provides information to assist in the orderly growth and development of the County.

Building

The Building Division administers State and County building codes and ordinances to ensure buildings are safe for occupancy. This is accomplished through the permitting, plan review and inspection process.

Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement Division is concerned with complaints pertaining to Planning and Building codes and ordinances in the unincorporated areas of Butte County.

RFQs are posted here for convenience, but as per the direction in each released RFQ, each RFQ will have a period for questions that must be asked via Public Purchase so all potential submitters of quotes will all have the same information.

Online Permit Center

The Online Permit Center allows licensed contractors and homeowners to apply for and receive building permits over the internet. It allows applicants to follow the status of their permit application and request inspections. Additionally, it allows the public to review permits and property information.

Economic Development Assistance Committee (EDAC)

EDAC has been created for new and existing businesses to discuss plans to develop new businesses or to expand or retain their existing operations in Butte County, with all County departments at one time.
