Butte County businesses are fortunate to be able to draw from a large labor pool with well diversified skills. Based on information provided by the Employment Development Department, Butte County pulls labor force from throughout Butte County as well as portions of neighboring counties, bringing the total laborshed for the area to approximately 171,716 individuals. The demographics for Butte County point to a labor force that is well educated, with approximately 64% of the population obtaining some level of college education compared to approximately 60% for California.

Training
Businesses have access to many workforce training services in Butte County. The County partners with the Alliance for Workforce Development (AFWD) to provide workforce training services. The AFWD offers training services to employees including management of the Butte County subsidized employment programs. The subsidized employment program allows businesses to hire employees, provide on the job training, and receive assistance with the employees wage for up to 6 months. Contact AFWD to see if your business can utilize the subsidized employment program.
