Money is still available for homeowners rebuilding from the Camp Fire, but time is running out to finish the application process.
Homeowners can receive up to $500,000 to rebuild or repair their home. California homeowners impacted by wildfires and mudflows in 2017 and 2018 are eligible. This includes the Camp Fire.
ReCoverCA funds are meant to provide money for rebuilding once other sources have been used up.
Homeowners had until Dec. 31, 2023, to complete the first step by submitting a Disaster Housing Needs Assistance Survey.
After that, they will be contacted by a case manager to submit a full application by Jan. 31, 2024.
Eligibility was recently expanded to include homeowners making up to 120 percent of the area’s median income.
Applicants must have owned and lived in the affected home at the time of the fire.
