Butte County switching Medi-Cal providers in 2024

OROVILLE, Calif.

An upcoming shift in healthcare providers will bring added services to everyone in Butte County who has Medi-Cal.

Ten North State counties, including Butte, will make the switch to Partnership Health Plan of California starting on January 1, 2024.

Partnership is currently providing coverage to 14 Northern California counties, including Shasta.

Those currently covered under Anthem Blue Cross or California Health and Wellness received the first of three informational notices in early October.

Medi-Cal coverage and benefits will stay the same. Eligibility for cash assistance programs such as CalWorks and CalFresh will not be impacted.

The switch to Partnership is part of a statewide effort to provide access to timely, high-quality care while meeting new requirements for Medi-Cal plans.

Some additional services provided by Partnership include:

  • A 24/7 Advice Nurse hotline
  • Transportation Services for those who cannot get to their appointment
  • Appointment scheduling assistance for those having difficulties setting up an appointment with their doctor

Medi-Cal recipients will receive a letter detailing health care options by November 1. Welcome letters for new health plans will be mailed out in January.

If your current doctor is not included in the new health plan, you may be able to keep seeing them for another 12 months by requesting a continuity of care.
