The California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWorks), in partnership with Butte County Department of Employment and Social Services (DESS), provides individuals and families with counseling and treatment services for mental health or substance abuse issues that would hinder their ability to enter the workforce.

Outpatient Center
Age Range: Ages 18 and over
Adult Outpatient Centers provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment to individuals requiring mental health treatment. The outpatient treatment team consists of trained professionals including psychiatrists, nurses, licensed and waivered therapists, counselors, peer advocates and support staff. Our focus area is mental health but we also accept and treat persons with co-occurring substance use disorders. Services provided include assessment, plan development, individual and group therapy and counseling, case management, medication evaluation and support, bilingual services, interpreter services, benefits services and community services referrals. To be considered for services, we offer weekly walk-in screenings on Wednesdays, first come, first served, to adults who are eligible to Medi-Cal.

Support, Engagement, Advocacy, Recovery, Community & Housing (SEARCH)
Age Range: Ages 18 and over
Support, Engagement, Advocacy, Recovery, Community & Housing (SEARCH) is a full service partnership program, funded through the Mental Health Services Act, which provides intensive services to those who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness due to a severe and persistent mental illness. In addition to receiving mental health services, individuals are linked to the Housing Authority of Butte County, Department of Rehabilitation (DOR), Veterans Services, Legal Aid, Social Security Administration, and other needed community services. Utilizing the Recovery Model philosophy, mental health services include psychiatric support, case management, medication management, employment services and referral, educational support, housing support, representative payee assistance, benefits counseling as well as medical and legal services referral. Services are tailored to meet each individual’s recovery needs.

The Drop-In Center
The Drop-In Center is a place for community members and clients to meet in a warm and supportive environment. Our purpose is to provide a place for self-improvement, peer-support, education, socialization, fun activities, and community awareness about mental health, and alcohol and drug issues.

Wellness & Recovery Center
Age Range: Ages 18 and over
The Wellness and Recovery Center (WRC) is consumer driven and emphasizes recovery oriented activities including peer support, socialization opportunities, life skill groups, reintegration into the community and medication support. These centers are open to all community members, however, to receive medication support, you must be open to our services. Space is provided and consumers are encouraged to run their own groups to provide limited mental health support. The psychiatrist and nurse support consumers’ medication needs as they prepare to integrate back into the community. We also have a community computer and printer available for self-directed use on topics to promote one’s recovery.
