Butte County's Department of Water and Resource Conservation was formed on July 1, 1999 following many years implementing programs to protect the Butte County water resources.

Our Mission: To manage and conserve water and other resources for the citizens of Butte County.

Report Water Waste in Butte County

Butte County encourages all residents to comply with the California Water Board temporary water restrictions to conserve water. View the temporary water restrictions.  You may notice individuals, business, or organizations that are not complying with the temporary water restrictions. 

To report wasteful practices for an address not served by a water district or municipal water supplier, please complete the form below. Butte County will send water conservation information to the address reported to educate the resident about the temporary water restrictions and how to comply.

  • To report wasteful practices at State facilities, please use the Department of General Services’ online reporting system.
  • To report wasteful practices at Butte County facilities, please use online reporting system.
  • To report wasteful practices in your work or residential neighborhoods, please contact your water supplier.
