Treasurer-Tax Collector
The Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Department operates three divisions - Treasury, Property Tax, and Central Collections. While the activities of each division are unique, the primary purpose of the department as a whole is the collection and cash management of revenue owed to the County, cities, special districts, school districts, and the court system. The department is committed to providing excellent customer service and assuring effective utilization of the public’s tax dollars through a program of performance measurement and management.
Court Fines and Fees

The County of Butte and Butte County Superior Court both play a role in collecting court-ordered fines and fees. The Court handles the collection of current accounts and refers delinquent accounts to the Central Collections Division of the Treasurer-Tax Collector's Department.

Current Court Fines and Fees

If you have received a traffic citation, local ordinance or animal control violation, you should receive a courtesy notice in the mail from the Butte County Superior Court within three weeks from the date of your citation. If you fail to respond by the date shown on the bottom of your citation, a warrant may be issued for your arrest or a hold may be placed against your driver's license. Read more. The Court also collects fines and fees for misdemeanor and felony cases while they are in a current status.

Delinquent Court Fines and Fees

Delinquent traffic citations and other infractions, misdemeanors, and felony cases are forwarded by Butte County Superior Court to the Central Collections Division of the Treasurer-Tax Collector's Department. The department serves as a collection agency to recover delinquent debt owed to the Court and Butte County. There are several payment options available.
