Treasurer-Tax Collector
The Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Department operates three divisions - Treasury, Property Tax, and Central Collections. While the activities of each division are unique, the primary purpose of the department as a whole is to collect revenue owed to the County, cities, special districts, school districts, and the court system. The department is committed to providing excellent customer service and assuring effective utilization of the public’s tax dollars through a program of performance measurement and management.
Payments

Property Tax Division

The Property Tax Division handles the billing and collection of property taxes on behalf of the County and the various local agencies that share the property tax revenue.  

Central Collections Division

The Central Collections Division serves as a collection agency for delinquent debt owed to Butte County Superior Court and various departments within the County. The division also processes applications and collects fees for business licenses and special event permits.

April 10th was the final deadline to pay the 2nd installment of 2013/14 secured property taxes and late fees have been added to outstanding tax bills. However, property owners have until June 30th to pay this fiscal year's taxes. On July 1st, outstanding propterty taxes will convert to a "default" status and additional penalites will apply. More about payment options.
