Treasurer-Tax Collector
The Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Department operates three divisions - Treasury, Property Tax, and Central Collections. While the activities of each division are unique, the primary purpose of the department as a whole is to collect revenue owed to the County, cities, special districts, school districts, and the court system. The department is committed to providing excellent customer service and assuring effective utilization of the public’s tax dollars through a program of performance measurement and management.
Delinquent Court Fine Payment Options

Delinquent traffic citations and other infractions, misdemeanors, and felony cases are forwarded by Butte County Superior Court to the Central Collections Division of the Treasurer-Tax Collector's Department. The department serves as a collection agency to recover delinquent debt owed to the Court and Butte County. There are several payment options available.


Pay by credit or debit card online through Official Payments or by calling 1-800-272-9829. Enter jurisdiction code 1520 for Butte County Central Collections. Official Payments will add a convenience fee to process your payment.

The Central Collections Division is located within the Treasurer-Tax Collector's Department on the bottom floor of the Butte County Administration building in Oroville. Cash, checks, money orders, and credit/debit card payments are accepted at the front counter.

8/7/2015 - The California State Controller's Office will be reinstating the the Property Tax Postponement Program for taxpayers who meet certain eligibility requirements. More about the program.

9/21/15- The 2015/16 secured property tax bills are available to view and pay online and will be mailed in early October. The first installment is always due November 1st but there is a grace period to pay without penalties until December 10th. 

9/29/15 - Delinquent Traffic Tickets and Infractions Amnesty Program begins October 1, 2015. More about the program.
