Chico Vehicle pursuit arrest

UPDATE: On Saturday, 10/22/16, the suspect, Brandon Mustagog (DOB: 10/18/96) was arrested off of Rodgers Avenue in Chico.  He was arrested by Butte County Sheriff’s Deputies without incident after being found inside an outbuilding on the property.


On 10/21/16 at approximately, 2320 hours Deputy Lomeli attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle for expired registration at the intersection of Elm Street and E. 16th Street in Chico.  Deputy Lomeli was doubled with Deputy Baker.

As Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the vehicle failed to pull over and fled northbound on Elm Street from E. 16th Street with the two deputies in pursuit.  The vehicle was traveling at speeds approximately 55-60 MPH.  The vehicle continued westbound on E. 12th Street then turned northbound onto Broadway Street.  The vehicle turned westbound onto W. 8th Street and ran the stop sign at the intersection of W. 8th Street and Walnut Street.  The vehicle was traveling over the double yellow line and running stop signs.  The vehicle continued onto Dayton Rd from Walnut St. 

The vehicle yielded at the intersection of Marian Ave and Dayton Rd and a female passenger exited the vehicle.  The female was later detained by the Chico Police Department and released without charges.  The vehicle continued southbound on Dayton Rd at speeds of 70 MPH with Deputies in pursuit.

The vehicle came to a stop again at the intersection of Rodgers Ave and Dayton Rd, two males and one female fled from the vehicle.  The female and one male were detained on scene. One male who was later identified as the driver, fled through the orchard on foot.  The male detained on scene was later released without charges.  The female who was detained and placed in the rear of a patrol unit on scene was later identified as Michelle McGrath (DOB: 02-27-1987).  McGrath was later arrested for vandalism to the Deputies patrol unit and transported to the Butte County Jail for booking.

The outstanding male was later identified as the driver, Brandon Mustagog (DOB: 10/18/1996).  Mustagog is still outstanding and wanted for felony evading a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact the Butte County Sheriff’s Office at 530-538-7321.
