Magalia man arrested for machete attack

Magalia CA- On October 8, 2016 at approximately 12:10 PM, Butte County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Turenne was dispatched to the 6000 block of Allentown Road in Magalia regarding a subject that was attacking people with a machete. Paradise Police Department assisted in responding to the call. When Deputy Turenne and Paradise Police arrived, they discovered two victims with injuries. One of the victims was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, and the other was treated at the scene.
Deputies were able to determine that the suspect in the attack was inside the residence in the 6000 block of Allentown Road. Deputies established a perimeter around the residence and, after multiple attempts, were able to make contact with the suspect over the phone. Deputies identified the suspect as Aina Lozada, age 49. After a short conversation with the suspect, she exited the residence and was detained by deputies. Another male subject identified as James Peer age 50 was contacted in the residence and detained.
Lozada was placed under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Butte County Jail with a bail of $30,000.00. Peer was placed under arrest for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and was subsequently released with a notice to appear.
