Butte County Sheriff’s Office Announces Arrest of Sacramento Resident for Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor
Oroville, CA- Today the Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) announced the arrest of Jagvir Singh, of Sacramento, age 22. The arrest was the culmination of an investigation that began in September. During the investigation, Detectives learned Singh was traveling from Sacramento to Chico for the past several months, for the purpose of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor victim.
On October 08, 2019, Detectives traveled to the Sacramento area to follow-up on this investigation. With the assistance of Detectives from the Sacramento County High Tech Task Force, Detectives were able to locate Singh at a residence in the Sacramento area. Singh was placed under arrest and transported to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. With the assistance of a Yuba City Police Detective who spoke Punjabi, Singh was interviewed. Singh admitted to traveling to the Chico area to meet the minor victim, and to having unlawful sexual intercourse with the minor victim.
Singh was arrested for three felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, and an additional three felony counts of contacting a minor with the intent to have unlawful sexual intercourse. On the evening of October 08, 2019, Butte County Sheriff’s Detectives booked Singh into the Butte County Jail. A Butte County Superior Court Judge reviewed a declaration documenting Singh’s arrest and set Singh’s bail status as no bail until Singh attends further court proceedings. Singh is expected to be arraigned on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at 3:00 PM in the Butte County Superior Court.
