YARD SALE LEADS TO DISCOVERY OF STOLEN PROPERTY

Chico, Ca--On the evening of 01-27-19, Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies were notified by the victim of a theft, stating that he had located his stolen outboard boat motor in a photograph of a yard sale being held on the 10700 block of Lone Pine Ave in Chico. BCSO deputies conducted an investigation and learned that the resident at that location, Matthew Alexander Myers, age 33 of Chico, was on searchable probation.

BCSO Deputies went to the Lone Pine Ave. residence and conducted a probation search. The stolen outboard motor was located in the yard. Three firearms and ammunition were located in the residence. One of the firearms was confirmed to be stolen out of Glenn County. Deputies are working to identify the rightful owners of the other two firearms. The owners of these firearms will be contacted by deputies once they are identified. Deputies released the stolen outboard motor to its owner.

Myers was also in possession of methamphetamine smoking paraphernalia.

Matthew Alexander Myers was transported to the Butte County Jail where he was booked on numerous charges including: Possession of Stolen Property (Felony), Violation of Probation (Misdemeanor), Possession of a Smoking Device (Misdemeanor). Myers bail was set at $26,000.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office encourages you to take note of the serial numbers on your valuable property including engines, tools, firearms and electronics to aid in their identification and recovery should they be stolen.
