BCSO Sergeant Involved in Minor Car Accident

Chico, CA- On Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Sergeant Sam Burnett was on patrol in the area of East 16th Street and Park Avenue in Chico. Sgt. Burnett was feeling ill and returning to the BCSO Chico substation when his vehicle left the roadway and collided with an unoccupied parked car, a dumpster, and a fence at a property on Park Avenue.
Sgt. Burnett was taken by ambulance to an area hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released. No one else was involved in the accident. The case is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol. BCSO staff will be reaching out to the owners of the property to help them deal with any insurance claims they may have.
