Recycle Butte
Used oil is one of the most easily recyclable materials in common use.  It is also one of the most important to recycle properly.  Improperly disposed oil can contaminate ground water as well as surface water.  Used oil is re-refined into new oil or reprocessed into other fuels.  By recycling used oil, we reduce our dependence on other sources of fossil fuels.
How To Use This Directory

This Directory has been created to assist you in making informed choices about reuse and recycling. We have put this handy guide together to show you what and where you can recycle in Butte County and to provide you with a myriad of choices for reuse.

We have arranged this Directory into two major categories: “By item” and “By location”. If you want to find all the possibilities for recycling a particular item, look it up in the “By Item” listings. You’ll find all the locations in Butte County that accept that item for recycling. You’ll be amazed to find out how many things can be recycled - right here in Butte County!

If you want to find out what can be recycled in your community, just turn to the “By Community” listings. You’ll find this section helpful whether you’ve lived in the area for years or if you’re new to the area and want to know what options are available in your neighborhood.

Just a note: Our research staff put a lot of hard work into developing this guide. We contacted hundreds of businesses and we sent countless faxes and e-mails to double-check our data. But still, we don’t guarantee that everything in this directory is flawless. That’s just the nature of the business world. Businesses change and even sometimes go out of business. That’s why we recommend that you always call before visiting any location.

You might be surprised to find that a business you’re sure accepts a particular material type for recycling is not listed here. That’s because some businesses asked specifically not to be listed. That’s okay.

We hope that once they see the quality of this Directory they’ll want to be listed in future issues. We hope this Directory is helpful. If you have questions, call the recycling information line at Butte County Public Works: 530.879.2352
