Welcome to the Butte County Department of Public Works, serving its residents since 1850. The Public Works Department maintains approximately 1,300 miles of roadways, including over 500 bridges and drainage structures and more than 18,000 road signs. Our goal is to provide you with the best customer service possible. If you are unable to find what you are looking for on our website, please call our office for more personal service.

The department posts information on this page regarding any:

  • Projects - Invitations for Bid (IFB)
  • Request for Proposals (RFP)
  • Request for Quotations/Qualifications (RFQ)

While every effort is made to post current information on this page, any omissions, errors etc. in posting or failure to post shall not be a valid reason for contesting any IFB, RFP, RFQ, or contract.  Adobe Reader is required in order to view associated files unless other wise specified.

Active Projects, RFPs, and RFQs

The Butte County Department of Public Works is now soliciting new construction projects, RFP’s, and RFQ’s through a partnership with The Public Group, using their program called Public Purchase. 

Public Purchase is a free service to both the County and the end user.   In order to obtain plans through this service, you must first register with Public Purchase at, then register with “County of Butte – Public Works”.   If you are already registered with Public Purchase, you will still need to register with County of Butte – Public Works.  See next section for details.

Signing up for Public Purchase not only allows you to view and bid on active projects, but also allows you to elect what project types you want to be notified of automatically.  You can also select to be notified of all Butte County Public Works projects when they are posted.  Download and view this document for step by step instructions on how to register for Public Purchase.  The free Adobe Reader is required to view this document.
