Burial Permits

If cremains/remains are to be legally interred in Butte County, you will need to contact Butte County Vital Statistics to obtain a burial permit. If cremains/remains are to be moved into Butte County from another County you will need to contact the Vital Statistics office in the county where the remains/cremains are currently interred. This can be determined by looking at the burial permit that is with the remains now. Please bring a copy of the original burial permit and the name and address of the new place of disposition with you when you visit our office to obtain the new permit. We will ask you to complete a one page form and collect a fee of $11.00 (effective 1/1/2007)
