The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a federally-funded program which provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support and vouchers for approximately $60 of healthy foods per month to thousands of Butte County pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women and to infants and children up through age five. Many low to moderate income families, including working and migrant families are eligible for the healthy foods, nutrition services and referrals that WIC offers.
Children and prenatal nutrition, infant feeding dental health, breastfeeding, baby behavior, and growth and development are just some of the parent education classes taught by trained WIC staff in the Oroville and Chico offices.

Applicants must meet all the following requirements (categorical, residential, nutrition risk & income) in order to be eligible for WIC Services.
WIC participants can do their nutrition education online from anywhere they have access to the internet, including a smart phone.
Butte County offers classes that teach women about breastfeeding and baby behaviors while they are pregnant, and provides support groups for women who are breastfeeding.
