Our Mission:

"The Butte County Probation Department is committed to enhancing public safety through rehabilitation and accountability."

The Butte County Probation Department seeks to enhance community safety and well-being using a model of personal responsibility. The employees of this department create an environment where victims are acknowledged and included; and offenders are held accountable and provided the opportunity and encouragement to change the cycle of criminal behavior. This change can only be achieved by actively involving our community and allied agencies in the process.

As probation officers, we possess a multidimensional knowledge base in human behavior and law. This profession is distinguished by the unique combinations of a mix of skills in investigation, communication, and analysis. We are in a position of impartiality within the criminal justice system that requires us to act responsibly in an effort to positively impact the community and the lives of victims, offenders, and allied agencies.
